Aluminium venetian blinds have been available for centuries but declined in popularity in the 70s and 80s due to the limited choices available, with most companies offering only 50mm (2?) wide aluminium slats in pastel colours only. In recent years however there has been a complete turnaround in the market with Venetians again enjoying huge popularity.
The venetian blind is apparently named after the early Venetian traders who fetched the concept back from Persia to Venice around about 1770, and later started manufacturing venetian blinds in Paris.
Real Wood
The use of natural products has become very popular in interior design in recent years. This has led to a big resurgence in demand for Wooden Venetians which were particularly popular during Victorian times. Real wood blinds give that extra touch of warmth and luxury. Just as every tree has it?s own character defined by colour and grain, so does every wooden blind. This is the beauty of a natural product. Each blind will be made to measure and fitted either inside or outside the window recess depending on your preference.
Our made to measure service includes a range of basswood blinds in a range of warm timber tones as well as white and ivory, all with matching pelmets. They are available in 25mm 35mm or 50mm slat widths and come with laddercord or tape finishes.
Aluminium
The introduction of the 25mm slat, and a big expansion in the choice of colours and finishes are the principle reasons for the restored popularity of the venetian. Lightweight in use and contemporary in finish this blind is both functional, and very smart in appearance. The 25mm slat width is now the most popular but Chic also offers the 16mm micro slat as well as 35mm and 50mm finishes.
Over 100 colours are available ranging from pastel shades to vibrant colours, with matt, gloss, gunmetal and other special effect finishes such as wood grain.
