Winsol Awnings & Canopies from Chic Blinds

Chic blinds offer a range of awnings and canopies to both the domestic and commercial markets. Our awning range is supplied by Winsol, a highly respected company within the awning industry. Winsol who were formed as long ago as 1876 in Belgium now operate from 17 different European locations occupying over 1 million square feet of factory space in total. The company which is still family owned, has it’s UK operation based in Eastbourne. Chic are delighted to have been invited by Winsol to be their dealer in South West Wales.

Domestic Awnings

Awnings allow you to extend your living space into the garden by providing a comfortable shaded area all year round. Whether it’s to allow you to dine outside, to entertain friends, or to simply enjoy a glass of wine and a book in the shade, an awning adds an extra dimension to enjoying your home environment.

Depending on your individual requirements Chic can offer a variety of awnings up to a maximum of 12 meters wide by 3.5 meters projection. Although the operation can be manual, the majority of our customers now choose the ease, simplicity and reliability of a Somfy Remote Control Electric Operation. For the ultimate control your awning can be fitted with an Automatic Sun and Wind Control. This feature gives you the peace of mind of knowing that if you forgot to close the awning and a storm developed, then the awning would automatically close. The awning could also be programmed to open automatically in strong sunshine, even if you are away, in order to help protect your furniture or carpets from fading due to exposure to prolonged sunshine.

The most popular awning fitted domestically is the Sombrero Compact which is suitable for nearly all domestic installations up to 4.5 meter wide by 2.5 meters projection. The fabric and spring tensioned arms of the awning are fully protected from the elements by a modern and stylish aluminium cassette case which is both neat and unobtrusive. The cassette which is only 150mm high by 195mm deep is available in white or brown as standard, has an easily adjusted tilt anglre. Where a larger awning is require then the Sombrero Grande or an awning from the Combisol range may be the answer. Occasionally there is a space restriction but the Bandana is an awning where the projection is greater than the width. Whatever your requirements there is probably a solution available from within the Winsol range.

Some homeowners assume that they cannot have an awning fitted due the some sort of obstruction such as a stench pipe or low level soffits. It is usually the case that Chic can overcome most obstacles by the use of purpose designed brackets.

Commercial Awnings

With commercial awnings the requirements are often different. Although the Sombrero range will often be fitted commercially, in many cases the fixing conditions require the use of a square bar system with multiple fixing points. It is also commonly the case that a PVC type fabric is required as opposed to acrylic fabrics which would normally be fitted domestically. With the introduction of the smoking ban hotel, restaurant and pub owners may wish to consider a terrace awning of some type. The Patiola Terrace Awning built to withstand virtually any weather conditions can be up to 5 meters wide by 6 meters projection and multiple units can be linked, with optional heating and lighting systems. The Terrasol Awning is a free standing awning system up to 6 meters by 6 meters. Chic are also able to offer a range of giant parasols up to 5 meters square. The options are endless but following a site visit our designers will recommend a system to suit your requirements.
